Here you will find the latest information on AFI's efforts to obtain duty reductions on capers, oysters, pepperoncini, pimentos, and sardines as well as an archive of past notices.



President Signs MTB: Duty Reductions in Place
Duty Reductions in Miscellaneous Tariff Bill: The bill must be signed by the president within 10 days of when it was passed – August 6. If not, it automatically becomes a law at that point. There’s no indication the president will not sign the bill, so it’s possible it will go into effect before August 6.
Miscellaneous Tariff Bill Passes in the Senate: AFI’s provisions in the bill include extending the duty reductions on capers, pepperoncini, oysters and artichokes.
Miscellaneous Tariff Bill Passes in the House of Representatives: Contains AFI’s duty reduction bills as well as several hundred similar bills.
AFI’s Duty Provisions in Danger of Lapsing: There have been some unexpected problems in getting AFI's duty eliminations/reductions extended.
Duties on Processed Artichokes from Chile: Several members have been told of possible changes to the duty rate for processed artichokes from Chile. A representative from the U.S. Trade Representative’s office gave AFI the following update.
