An antidumping petition on certain orange juice from Brazil was filed on December 27, 2004. The petitioners are Florida Citrus Mutual; Citrus Belle; Citrus World, Inc.; Peace River Citrus Products, Inc.; and Southern Gardens.
After polling to determine if there is industry support for the petition filed, Commerce has initiated an antidumping duty investigation to determine whether imports of orange juice from Brazil are being, or are likely to be, sold in the U.S at less than fair value. Commerce has notified the ITC of the initiation and the ITC will preliminarily determine no later than March 7 whether there is a reasonable indication that these imports are causing material injury or threatening to cause material injury to a U.S. industry. A negative ITC determination will result in the investigation being terminated; otherwise, this investigation will proceed.
Comments may be submitted by April 1 to Import Administration’s Central Records Unit, Room 1870, U.S. Department of Commerce, 14th Street and Constitution Avenue, NW., Washington, DC 20230.
Commerce expects to make preliminary determinations by July 1.
