GSP Renewal on Hold
Little Chance of Renewal Before Mid-November.

On a conference call last night we learned the bill mentioned in yesterday’s notice regarding GSP was going to be voted on today until it was pulled off the calendar late yesterday. That means there’s little chance GSP will be renewed before mid-November because Congress will adjourn soon for the November elections.
There’s still no clear sense of what changes, if any, will be made to the program if and when it is renewed. Through its participation in the Coalition for GSP, AFI will continue to get the latest information on this issue and be in position to make the food import industry’s voice heard. We will keep you apprised of any further developments.
