The United States Trade Representative published a notice announcing the competitive need limitation (CNL) waiver petitions that have been accepted for further review in the 2007 GSP Annual Review. These petitions seek to maintain GSP eligibility for certain products that have exceeded the applicable import value thresholds. After reviewing the CNL waiver petitions received, USTR has decided to initiate a full review of the petition on the following product of interest to AFI members:

HTS 2001.10.00 Cucumbers, including gherkins, prepared or preserved by vinegar or acetic acid from India

USTR also announced the following schedule for conducting its annual review unless otherwise specified in a future Federal Register notice:

Feb. 22: deadline for requests to present oral testimony or pre-hearing briefs.

March 4: GSP subcommittee public hearing on all CNL waiver petitions accepted for the 2007 GSP Annual Review in Washington, D.C.

March 14: Due date for submission of post-hearing briefs.

May: ITC to publish reports on petitions; comments are due 10 days after publication.

June 30: modifications to the list of articles eligible for duty-free treatment under GSP resulting from the review to be announced in the Federal Register.
