Clarification Regarding Proposed Rule on Inspection and Certification for Processed Fruits, Vegetables and Processed Products
Proposed increase of inspection fees for imported products.

Thursday, July 20, 2006

On Friday a notice was sent advising of a proposed rule issued by USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) which would revise the regulations governing inspection and certification for processed fruits, vegetables and processed products.

The Federal Register notice listed fees and charges for inspection services that primarily pertained to domestic inspections.

Since then, we’ve contacted AMS and been told the proposed increase for imported lot inspections is 19 percent.

Comments must be submitted on or before August 10. To view the proposed rule, click on the link below or contact AFI. More information may be obtained by contacting Mr. Terry B. Bane at (202) 720-4693, or e-mail Terry.Bane@usda.gov.
